This might be controversial, but I love stocking stuffers more than any gift that comes wrapped under the tree. There is something so delightful about tucking tiny treasures into them—it’s a way to really get creative and surprise my family on Christmas morning.
So, when I recently walked into Dollar Tree one snowy winter afternoon, I saw something that made my heart grow (three sizes, just like the Grinch). I knew that I had found the absolute perfect stocking stuffer: a six-pack of peppermint candy cane spoons for $1.25.

- Why I Love It: It's the perfect complement to a warm mug of hot chocolate—and it's the best stocking stuffer.
Why I Love Dollar Tree's Candy Cane Spoons
Dollar Tree's candy cane spoons are a great way to add a little peppermint flavor to hot chocolate. (I previously used mini candy canes for my mugs, but these are ideal.) I'd only seen novelty chocolate spoons and stirring sticks prior to this.
Don’t get me wrong—I love chocolate, but the spoons just get too messy. They melt quickly and unevenly, and end up leaving big blobs of chocolate in my cocoa. Plus, isn’t a chocolate spoon in hot chocolate a little too redundant? This is also why I prefer candy canes to hot cocoa bombs as well; I find they're more trouble than they’re worth. It’s fun to watch the cocoa bomb melt, but that’s about it.

Now, I know that I’m sounding a bit like a Grinch, but I assure you I'm not. A warm mug of hot cocoa is one of winter’s greatest pleasures, and I’m interested in making it the most soothing ritual of the holiday season—not one that’s messy and disappointing.
So, Dollar Tree is making this happen for me—and my family. For $1.25, I plan on picking up a few boxes for stockings and to enjoy myself. The discount store also sells boxes of Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate—the gold standard of cocoa mixes—for the same price, which means that for just $2.50, you can gift one person six perfect cups of hot chocolate.
