This year, my friends and I decided to get together for a special Christmas girls’ night. While we didn’t set any parameters for holiday cocktails, for food, we thought it would be fun to have everything be some sort of dip.
While classic crowd favorites like buffalo chicken dip and nacho dip were added to the menu immediately, we also wanted to ensure plenty of sweet and savory holiday dips were in the mix. The one dip I immediately knew I wanted to include was TikTok’s viral 3-ingredient Hot Cocoa Dip.

What Is Hot Cocoa Dip?
If your algorithm hasn’t introduced you to this quick, easy, and festive delight, allow me to enlighten you. This dip recipe could not be any easier. It’s perfect for those who don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen but would still like to bring something that’s at least semi-homemade to their holiday potluck.
Hot cocoa dip is essentially a dip made from prepared no-bake cheesecake filling, marshmallow fluff, and hot chocolate mix. Garnished with freeze-dried marshmallows (if desired), it can be enjoyed with assorted cookies, crackers, pretzels, candies, or fruit.
How to Make This Viral Dip
To make this viral recipe, simply pick up a tub of no-bake cheesecake filling—my store stocked it in the refrigerated dairy section near the yogurt and cottage cheese. If you’re serving a small group, you’ll need just one cup of this ingredient (use the extra to try this equally viral caramel apple dip), but if you’re serving a crowd, go ahead and use the whole tub.
The cheesecake filling is then mixed with an equal amount of marshmallow creme and one packet (about three tablespoons) of hot cocoa mix per cup of cheesecake filling used. That’s it!

You can really use any hot chocolate mix you enjoy for this recipe (or even homemade hot cocoa mix). However, my favorite is Swiss Miss Marshmallow Lovers because it includes three separate packets of freeze-dried marshmallows. It can be challenging to source a small amount of freeze-dried marshmallows at an affordable price, so if you wish to garnish this dip with them, this is the perfect way to purchase just enough to make a batch.
What to Serve With Hot Cocoa Dip
Hot cocoa dip is rich and creamy, with a subtle tang from the cream cheese in the cheesecake filling. For my dip-themed holiday party, I plan to serve this hot cocoa dip with mini pretzels, graham crackers, shortbread cookies, gingersnaps, Oreos, vanilla wafers, and strawberries.
That said, you can really enjoy this dip with any cookie you enjoy. Old-fashioned gingerbread cookies or peanut butter blossoms would both taste divine. You could even serve with pieces of pound cake or squares of super-fudgy brownies. Then, when you’re out of things to dip, don’t be afraid to just grab a spoon. This holiday treat is too good to let any go to waste.
