Ritz Just Released a Brand-New Cracker That's Somehow Better Than the Original

Dip season has arrived!

The arrival of fall means a lot of things for me as a Texan. The temperatures finally become tolerable after months of brutal heat, and I can eat a bowl of soup without feeling like I'm going to sweat through my shirt.

The most important sign that fall has arrived is that football is on my TV every Saturday and Sunday (and also, Monday and Thursday). I'm not mad about it, even now that we're weeks into the season.

Whether I have company over to watch the game or not, I'll prepare a spread of snacks to enjoy while watching every single play. My game day usually includes a dip or two, ideally queso and Spinach Artichoke Dip, plus a bunch of snacky stuff to dunk into those dips: like carrot sticks, crackers, and tortilla chips. That's why I'm stoked about Ritz's new football-shaped crackers, set to hit grocery store shelves for the first time next month.

Why I'm So Excited About Football-Shaped Crackers

Not only are they thematically appropriate for game day—who isn't going to be excited to dunk tiny, buttery footballs into a raft of cheesy queso?! But it also seems like the slightly pointed shape of this cracker will make it distinctly better for dipping. The new crackers will taste just like the original, but the pointy ends of these football-shaped crackers are excellent for plunging into literally any dip.

I'm also looking forward to topping these new football-shaped crackers with accoutrements that will actually make them look more like real footballs. Perhaps I'll spread them with chocolate frosting and pipe on little lace details, or assemble slices of cured meats and tiny bites of cheese for a similar visual impact in a savory snack. Even if you're just arranging them around a pecan-crusted cheese ball, they're going to add a little sporty panache to your game day dip lineup

When Ritz Football-Shaped Crackers Are Available

The Ritz limited edition crackers are available starting December 1 at most major food retailers across the country for $4.49. That means they'll arrive in your local supermarket in plenty of time for planning the perfect Super Bowl party spread, or gathering a big group of college friends to watch your alma mater compete in the College Football Playoffs.

And whether or not your team wins or loses, at least you'll know that you have plenty of snacks to celebrate a victory—or to eat your feelings in the event of a tough loss.
