Over 1.5 Million Bags of Cheese Sold at Walmart, Aldi, and Other Retailers Recalled for Potential Metal Contamination
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration shared this recall on December 1, when it labeled the event a Class II recall. More than 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese were recalled due to contamination with metal fragments.
The recalled cheese was distributed under several private-label brands, including Aldi's Happy Farms, Target's Good & Gather, and Walmart's Great Value, and was sold in stores in 31 states.
Many private-label products are included in this recall; if you have shredded cheese in your fridge, please conduct a thorough check before consuming it. You can also find a complete list of states, products, UPCs, and best-by dates on the FDA's site.
If you purchased any of the recalled shredded cheese products, do not eat them. Dispose of the product or return it to the store where you bought it for a refund.
Ritz Peanut Butter Crackers Sold at Walmart Recalled for Hidden Allergen
On December 1, Walmart announced that Mondelēz Global LLC, maker of beloved Ritz crackers, recalled its Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches due to a serious labeling error. Select cartons of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches contain individually wrapped packs that may be labeled as Cheese Cracker Sandwiches. The products within the "cheese" wrappers are a Peanut Butter variety, so people with an allergy or sensitivity to peanuts could be at risk.
Mondelēz announced the recall after discovering that it shipped mislabeled cases to retailers in eight states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania. Currently, Walmart is the only confirmed retailer.
This recall applies only to Ritz Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers in 20-count cartons; no other product is affected. If you pack snacks for someone with a peanut allergy, or have an allergy yourself, pay careful attention to what's on (and in) the packaging.
- Product: Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, 20 Packs

If you or someone in your family has a peanut allergy, throw any recalled cracker snacks away immediately. If you have questions about the recall, call Mondelēz Global at 1-844-366-1171.
The recalled crackers are safe to eat for anyone without a peanut allergy. Just be aware that your individually-packaged cheese crackers may actually be peanut butter crackers in disguise.
Häagen-Dazs Recalls Popular Ice Cream Bars for Hidden Allergen
On December 3, a previous recall of its Häagen-Dazs Dark Chocolate Mini Bars was classified as a Class II recall, meaning exposure to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
The company discovered it had packed products containing wheat with the wrong labels, which is a major mix-up. In other words, ice cream containing wheat is packaged with wheat not listed on the label. If you or someone in your family has a wheat allergy, check your freezer ASAP to make sure no one is at risk. Here's how to tell if your food is part of the recall.
This recall affects six-count boxes of Häagen-Dazs Dark Chocolate Mini Bars distributed to Kroger and Giant Eagle stores in 31 states.

If you have the now-recalled Häagen-Dazs mini bars in your freezer and someone in your household has a wheat allergy or sensitivity, toss them or return them to the place of purchase. This ice cream is safe for people without a wheat allergy, but everyone is eligible for a refund.
