In my family, pumpkin spice has got nothing on peppermint.
That’s why we’re really excited that Pillsbury has brought back its Limited Edition Candy Cane Sugar Cookie Dough. This pre-made dough is something my family waits all year for, and it’s finally back in season. Weighing in at nearly one pound of dough, it's enough to make 12 "big" cookies (as the package says), and costs just $3.99.
Why My Family Loves Pillsbury Limited Edition Candy Cane Sugar Cookie Dough
Once I open the package of cookie dough, an aroma of peppermint envelops me, and the smell only intensifies when I bake these babies.
Though the package shows fresh dough on a spoon, they come perfectly shaped for baking—all I have to do is preheat my oven to 350°F, place them on a dry cookie sheet, and bake. The package says 16 to 20 minutes, but in my convection oven, it takes about 14 minutes.
My husband loves snatching them off the cookie sheet and dunking them in milk, and my son—a cookie dough fiend—would prefer I not bake them at all. “They’re perfect right out of the package,” he tells me. Because these cookies are safe to eat raw, I might roll my eyes at my son’s preferred way of enjoying them, but I don’t stop him.

What I love about these cookies is that they’re perfect for last-minute holiday everything—like your kid forgetting to tell you about the treats they need for a class party, your spouse’s work party, or a casual neighborhood caroling session. Plus, they come with Peanuts packaging for a perfect holiday spin. Besides the candy cane flavor, two other classic flavors—chocolate chip and sugar cookie—feature the limited-edition packaging. The products are available nationwide.
Ever since the pandemic, my sisters and I have thrown a holiday hot chocolate party, and by that, I mean our kids drink hot cocoa, eat cookies, and watch holiday movies, while we drink wine, snack on takeout, and talk and laugh. These cookies are perfect for dunking in hot chocolate, but they also pair well with bubbly wine, so I’m taking them to this year’s party.
The limited-edition cookie dough suggests making a Peanuts Peppermint Patty cookie sandwich by pressing together two cookies around a layer of vanilla or chocolate frosting, then rolling in some green sprinkles for a festive touch.
These cookies are already so good, but there is one thing that I think would make them taste even better: turning them into ice cream sandwiches. Of course, adding a seasonal candy cane-flavored ice cream would be the way to go here—a cool treat fit for the season.
