My kids love to help me in the kitchen, especially when it involves making something sweet. During the holiday season, we bake whenever we get the chance.

That said, it’s a busy time of the year, which can make it difficult to squeeze in baking projects. Luckily, I discovered Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes Dip this year, and it’s my family’s new favorite quick-and-easy holiday treat.

What Is Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes Dip?

While countless variations of this recipe exist, the version we made came straight from the source: Little Debbie. The dip is made with the brand’s beloved vanilla-flavored Christmas Tree Cakes, which are crumbled and blended with cream cheese, a splash of milk, vanilla extract, and frozen whipped topping. Garnished with red and green sprinkles for an extra touch of holiday spirit, the dip is served with assorted cookies, crackers, and fruit.

The resulting dip is light, creamy, and subtly sweet. We made sure to leave some larger pieces of cake in the dip for contrast, but you could beat it until uniformly smooth, if that's more your style. In terms of taste, it reminded us a lot of a less-sweet cake pop.

Our family served Little Debbie Christmas Tree Dip alongside mini pretzels, graham crackers, shortbread cookies, gingersnaps, and sliced strawberries. However, you can really choose any cookie (old-fashioned gingerbread cookies or a package of mint Oreos would also taste great with it), or try it with cubes of pound cake or a batch of homemade chocolate chip blondies.

If you’re a family that prefers chocolate over vanilla, try making this dip with a box of chocolate-flavored Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes. For extra decadence, you can add one-third cup of cocoa powder to the mixture, or even a packet of your favorite hot chocolate mix. Top the dip with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and a flourish of festive holiday sprinkles.

What Makes This Dip So Special?

My kids loved making this with me. They had a blast smashing the little cakes and watching the ingredients swirl together in our mixer. It took us less than 10 minutes to prepare, but it definitely scratched their itch to make something festive and fun for the holidays. Plus, it involved colorful sprinkles, which are always a win in our household.

However, this dip is about more than enjoying something sweet. It’s about memories, new and old. As we smashed, mixed, and sampled, I could see fresh memories being created for my children, while at the same time, I was reliving a bit of the Christmas magic from my youth.

A big part of the warmth and wonder of the Christmas season is nostalgia; we hold dear traditions that remind us of our childhood. I hadn’t enjoyed a Little Debbie snack cake in decades—not since my mother tucked a Cosmic Brownie into my lunchbox. If you haven't either, then let me tell you that they taste exactly the same. Every bite of this festive dip was like time-traveling back to my childhood’s most cherished Christmas memories.
