Simply Recipes / Little Debbie
There is no treat more nostalgic than a Little Debbie snack cake. My mom always stocked our kitchen with boxes of Cosmic Brownies and Nutty Buddy bars, perfect for unwrapping and eating right in front of the television.
Now that I’m (much) older, I don’t find myself grabbing them often at the grocery store, but the newest offering from this 65-year-old dessert icon is exciting enough to send me directly to the snack aisle, New Year’s resolution be damned.
Little Debbie first introduced its Strawberry Shortcake Rolls in 1966. For the uninitiated, this treat involves a soft, spongy cake wrapped around vanilla cream and a strawberry filling, and now, Little Debbie has announced that Strawberry Shortcake Rolls will be available in a single-serving package that makes them even better as a quick snack.

Why I’m So Excited About This Change
Most importantly, this new single-serve packaging means that I won’t have to purchase an entire box of Strawberry Shortcake Rolls to satisfy my cravings for a nostalgic treat. Maybe that’s actually a good thing for my New Year’s resolutions, in that I can now get my Strawberry Shortcake Rolls fix without ending up with too many sugary snacks in the pantry. One could even argue that Little Debbie is doing me, personally, a favor here!
The new arrival couldn’t have come at a better time, either, because strawberry shortcake is really having a moment right now on grocery store shelves. In the last few months alone, I’ve seen strawberry shortcake pretzels, protein powder, and even strawberry shortcake juice.
But unlike these newer entrants into the strawberry shortcake canon, you can be assured that Little Debbie’s Strawberry Shortcake Rolls will taste as great as they always have—the only thing that’s changing is the packaging.
Little Debbie has not yet announced a specific timeline for when the new single-serve Strawberry Shortcake Rolls will be on offer, but keep your eyes peeled—they’ll be hitting shelves in the coming months, just in time to scare off the late winter blues with a bit of springy strawberry goodness.
