Whether you believe soup has a set season or, like me, think soup season is all year, there's one thing we can surely agree on: bean soups are some of the best soups. One of the downsides of bean soups, made from scratch with dried beans, is that they can take a long time to cook. That's arguably what makes them taste so delicious. But, let's be honest, it can be hard to babysit a pot all day.
Luckily, we have plenty of easy bean soups that rely on one of the greatest, hardest-working pantry staples: canned beans! Each of the soups below take less than an hour to come together, with many taking 30 minutes or less, but, I promise, they taste just as good as a long simmered pot of soup made with dried beans. No matter what cans of beans are already on your shelf—from chickpeas to black beans, cannellini to butter—there's a soup recipe here that you can (and should) make tonight.

15-Minute Black Bean Soup
Simply Recipes / Coco Morante
"I don’t drain my beans... Not only does this save on clean-up, I find that the beans’ liquid helps to add body to the soup, giving it an extra velvety texture. Depending on the sodium content of your beans (it can vary widely from brand to brand), you’ll want to adjust the amount of salt accordingly." —Coco Morante, Recipe Developer
Tomato Orzo Soup

5-Ingredient Tortilla Soup
Simply Recipes / Mihaela Kozaric Sebrek
"The beauty of this recipe is that your current favorite salsa is the one that will be best for your soup. I usually choose fresh salsa made in the grocery store where I shop, but this element is truly the chef’s choice." —Mackenzie Schieck, Recipe Developer
Sausage White Bean Soup
Simply Recipes / Sara Haas
"I always save the rind from parmesan to add to soups and stews for a big salty, umami boost. Let it sit in the soup while it simmers then pull it out just before serving." —Sara Haas, Recipe Developer

Grandma Patty’s Chili
Simply Recipes / Shilpa Iyer
"While the chili powder in chili is non-negotiable, my grandma wasn’t too picky about what else went in here. Coriander is one of my favorites, but not as common a pantry staple as oregano and cumin. My grandma has even been known to experiment with options like a small amount of cinnamon or taco seasoning. Use what you have, and taste as you go!" —Joey Firoben, Recipe Developer
4-Ingredient Spinach White Bean Soup
Simply Recipes / Alexandra Shytsman
"A quick note on seasoning: I like to wait until the very end to add any salt to this soup, as canned beans and store-bought broth can be plenty salty. I usually add about a quarter teaspoon of fine sea salt." —Alexandra Shytsman, Recipe Developer

Buffalo Chicken Chili
Simply Recipes / Aaron Hutcherson
"In terms of spice, buffalo wing sauce is relatively mild, as are the canned green chiles. If you want to make it spicier, try adding more hot wing sauce, a few teaspoons of a spicier hot sauce, or sprinkle in some crushed red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or hot chiles like diced jalapeños or chiles in adobo sauce." —Aaron Hutcherson, Recipe Developer
