I have a salad nearly every night—and not just because I’m a registered dietitian. The crunch is super satisfying, it helps me feel full, and there are so many delicious flavor combinations to play with. Often, the salad dressing I choose is how I switch up the flavors on a day-to-day basis—so I have plenty of go-tos.

Among those is green goddess dressing—it’s tangy, bright, savory, herbaceous, and a little creamy—checking many of my boxes when it comes to an excellent salad dressing. However, with all the fresh ingredients in this popular dressing, it’s not the easiest to quickly whip up on a busy weeknight with minimal groceries in the house.

That’s why I often like to have a store-bought option on hand. While I’ve tried a few brands, I was curious which one foods pros like to turn to on a regular basis. To my surprise, they were all in agreement.

These chefs agree that when homemade isn’t an option, Trader Joe's Green Goddess Dressing is their go-to. “Trader Joe's is a great option that adds bold flavor,” says Shoults.

Randhawa has been reaching for this TJ’s find for over a decade—not only for the taste but also its ingredients. “I enjoy Trader Joe's Green Goddess Dressing because it is a healthy vegan version with avocados contributing to the creaminess,” she explains. While some green goddess dressings feature avocado, it’s not in the most classic recipes—making this option especially unique.

Borrows also loves this salad staple, adding, “Trader Joe’s Green Goddess is one of my go-to favorites. It’s fresh-tasting, flavorful, and can be used in so many ways.”

How To Use TJ’s Green Goddess Dressing

Speaking of creative uses for this green goddess dressing at home, these chefs have plenty of ideas. “It pairs well with your favorite salads, veggie trays, and even pasta. We love grilling out as a family, and when burgers are on the menu, spreading green goddess dressing on the buns really elevates the entire burger. It adds a fresh, flavorful twist that takes a simple meal to the next level,” shares Shoults. This TikTok-inspired Green Goddess Pasta Salad is a fun, inspired way to use the dressing.

Randhawa also has plenty of delicious ideas. “One of my favorite—and admittedly quirky—ways to use green goddess dressing is with potstickers. I also love green goddess dressing with beet salads,” she explains.

Meanwhile, Borrows, too, uses this dressing for much more than salads. “It’s great as a dip for raw veggies, pita chips, or even chicken wings. I also use it as a marinade for chicken or fish, or as a sauce for things like burgers, fish tacos, grain bowls, or burrito bowls. It’s an easy way to add a lot of flavor without much effort,” she offers.

And for less than $4 per bottle, you can’t beat the accessibility of this chef-approved condiment. Looks like I have another TJ’s product to add to my list of must-try items.
