I pop these freezer conveniences in the toaster for a quick, tasty breakfast, and they scratch the same itch as homemade pancakes.

If my day starts with pancakes, chances are it’s going to be a good one. Fluffy, sweet, and filling, pancakes equal serious comfort in my book. And while they are pretty easy to whip up at home from scratch, this pursuit does take some time and effort—both of which I usually don’t have on most weekday mornings.

While this used to mean pancakes could only be enjoyed on weekends or holidays, my discovery of frozen pancakes has completely changed everything.

I pop these freezer conveniences in the toaster for a quick, tasty breakfast, and they scratch the same itch as homemade pancakes. However, I’ve only just started my frozen pancake journey, so I thought I’d ask food professionals which brand they typically reach for. To my surprise, they all recommended the same one.

The Best Frozen Pancakes

According to these food pros, Kodiak Buttermilk Power Flapjacks are the best frozen pancakes on the market, and they’re an undeniably smart way to start the day. And not just because they’re delicious, but because they provide health-boosting ingredients and nutrients. “[Kodiak flapjacks] are high in protein, keep me full, and have a great texture that holds up to heavier toppings like berries or peanut butter,” explains Marris.

Rodriguez adds, “They’re a great, healthier choice and super flavorful.”

Rehm loves that the pancakes are made with whole grains and taste delicious. “I love to have them with butter and some homemade jam.” She also tops them with Nutella, whipped cream, or crème fraîche for a dessert-like breakfast. On a savory note, she tops the pancakes with a fried egg and a drizzle of chili oil.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to creative ways to serve Kodiak pancakes.

Marris likes to make a “pancake taco” with berries and whipped cream or fill them with savory items like sausage and scrambled egg.

Rodriguez whips up the ever-classic toad in the hole with the pancakes. “Ring-punch the center of the pancake out and then fry it in the pan, adding an egg to the center.”

After hearing about all these delicious ideas, I can’t wait to pick up this brand of frozen pancakes on my next grocery run and try them myself.
