While the holiday season gets a lot of credit for being the best time of the year for food, I quietly—but firmly—disagree. Don’t get me wrong, I love a heaping pile of mashed potatoes or a nice spiral-sliced honey-glazed ham. But my personal food celebration begins on New Year’s Eve and lasts through March.
Why? Because I am an appetizer queen. If I could eat mozzarella sticks every day, I would. Buffalo sauce is one of the best sauces on the planet. A spicy chorizo queso dip can be a snack or a meal. As such, football playoff games and awards shows are where I thrive at meal planning. Not only do I love hosting viewing parties, but I love putting together a giant feast of apps and snacks. Chips, dips, twists, puffs, wings, sticks—anything in a flavorful, bite-size package is my jam.
So, I eagerly await until one of my favorite Aldi Finds is back in stores, and clear out space in the freezer to stock up. The frozen Kirkwood Chicken Wings are my lifesaver during this party-filled time of year. A 64-ounce bag costs $13.15, which is definitely a bigger ticket item than I normally buy from Aldi, aside from my various Crofton household goodies.

Aldi Kirkwood Chicken Wings
- Price: $13.15 for 64 ounces
- Why I Love Them: I can take out as many as I need to feed the crowd, and also customize each batch with different sauces.
Don’t let sticker shock scare you off—it’s still a unit price of $0.20/ounce, and way cheaper than if you ordered takeout or delivery from your favorite wing spot. I love that I can make as many or as few as I need, depending on how many guests I have over. If you have the freezer space, I definitely recommend stocking up.
Why These Wings Are Worthwhile
But what really makes these a hot item is that you can customize them with any sauce you like. I have friends who prefer barbecue over buffalo, and I can easily toss these wings in whichever sauce people like once they’re done baking.
My best tip is to flip the wings halfway through cooking and then again after they’re done for that restaurant-quality flavor and texture.) If you have kids who insist on eating everything plain, then you’re good to go at this point.

This big bag of frozen wings is something I wish Aldi would keep in stock year-round, but I’m just happy that they carry them at all. If you want to host a winning football party or a memorable Oscars night, then you should definitely pick up these wings and a few of your favorite Burman’s sauces at Aldi. It’s the best way to make the beginning of the new year another festive season to remember—one buffalo-drenched chicken wing at a time.
